Entrada para mi clase de 4090

Día de lectura a los niños

         El pasado sábado por la clase de servicio se reunieron a las 8:30 AM y caminó hasta el centro de la comunidad de San Luis. Cada uno tenía dos libros para niños en nuestras manos, una en español y otra en Inglés. Nos quedamos sin duda esperamos una participación más grande, pero nos encontramos con tres hijos. No me importa que no tener un grupo grande. Tener sólo tres niños a leer me dio más de una oportunidad de conocer de forma individual. Laura, que vino de Finca de Bella, era mi favorito. No terminé de leer con ella, así que en vez jugamos UNO. Los dos estábamos muy competitivo, yo era de veinte años, mientras que Laura tenía unos trece años. Fue muy divertido y el tiempo pasó volando!

         Mientras que el objetivo de la lectura a los niños de la localidad no funcionaba, me alegro de que al menos estamos haciendo esfuerzos para la creación de una biblioteca en el centro de la comunidad. Es muy escasa en este momento, pero creo que al final del verano, todos vamos a ser capaces de ver una gran mejora! Así que tal vez la próxima vez que haya un día de la lectura, los niños serán más entusiastas y ya podría tener un libro favorito!

         [This past Saturday our service learning class got together at 8:30 AM and walked to the community center of San Luis. We each had two children’s books in our hands, one in Spanish and one in English. We were definitely expecting a bigger turnout, but were met with three children. I didn’t mind not having a big group. Having only three children to read to gave me more of an opportunity to get to know them individually. Laura, who came from Finca de Bella, was my favorite. I didn’t end up reading to her, so instead we played UNO. We were both really competitive, myself being twenty years old while Laura was about thirteen. It was really fun and the time flew by!
While the goal of reading to the local children didn’t really work out, I am glad at least that we are making efforts for creating a library in the community center. It is really sparse at the moment, but I think at the end of the summer we will all be able to see a big improvement! So maybe next time they have a reading day, the children will be more enthusiastic and might already have a favorite book!]
