Hoy ayudamos a Hugo y su familia, que vive en Finca de Bella. Mi familia de “homestay” vive en el INVU, que es hermoso en sí mismo, pero es sin duda difícil de apreciar por el momento de llegar allí, cubierto de sudor. Sin embargo, Finca de Bella es, con mucho, uno de los lugares más hermosos que he visto en Costa Rica. Hugo y su familia viven y han cultivado los muchos acres alrededor de ellos para producir una gran variedad de cultivos. Después de cultivar y cosechar ellos durante la temporada, ellos parte lo que van a utilizar y luego venden el resto a la comunidad.
Nuestra clase ayudó a plantar y tirar la sección de la cebolla de su granja. Nos dijeron que no ibamos a hacer cualquier actividad extenuaste, y mientras que la plantación de las cebollas no era necesariamente un trabajo extenuaste, trabajar en el calor y la suciedad sin duda era un poco difícil. Fue una gran experiencia y disfrutamos ayudar a ellos y tratar de devolver un poco a la comunidad que ha sido tan acogedor a mi clase y yo. Creo que estoy más familiarizado con los términos de agricultura y Hugo habló a un ritmo decente, así era fácil seguir el ritmo de la conversación con él cuando estaba explicando a su estilo de vida en Finca de bella. Hugo y su familia definitivamente trabajan duro para sus ingresos, sino como Hugo nos dijo, trabajan en este tipo de ambiente es sin duda difícil, pero vale la pena al final, porque tiene la habilidad de estar más en casa y ver a su hija crecer.
[Today we helped Hugo and his family, who live in Finca Bella. My homestay family live in INVU, which is beautiful in itself, but it is certainly difficult to see by the time you get there, covered in sweat. However, Finca Bella is by far one of the most beautiful places I have seen in Costa Rica. Hugo and his family live and have cultivated many acres around them to produce a variety of crops. After the cultivation and harvest of them during the season, they portion what they are going to use and then sell the rest to the community.
Our class helped plant and pull the onion section of his farm. They said we would not do any strenuous activity , and while planting onions was not necessarily a strenuous job, working in the heat and dirt was definitely a little difficult. It was a great experience and I enjoyed helping them and trying to give something back to the community that has been so welcoming to my class and me. I think I'm more familiar with the terms of agriculture and Hugo spoke at a decent pace, so it was easy to keep up with the conversation with him when he was explaining his lifestyle in Finca de Bella . Hugo and his family definitely work hard for their income, but as Hugo told us, working in this type of environment is certainly difficult, but it is worth in the end, because he has the ability to spend more at home and see his daughter grow up.]
